FIPS codes are numeric characters used to identify counties and states in the US. Well, the answer is that all the counties in the US have a FIPS code. So, how do you identify these counties and county equivalents? Is there a unique county identifier or code? If yes, what is a county code? Similarly, there are several other places that are the same as counties but go by different names. They function in the same way as counties but with some minor variations. Today, counties are functional in 48 US states, while the other two states Louisiana and Alaska, have parishes and boroughs, respectively. For example, Jackson County in the United States is just a part of Missouri, and there are 113 other counties in this state. But remember that counties are not the same as a state but rather form various small parts of a state.
